Read With A Buddy

ABOUT

As a retired elementary school teacher, I spent my career working in a low-income school.  I saw firsthand how heartbreaking it was for a child to love reading but not have a single book at home.  In fact, research shows that children from low-income families are far less likely to have access to books, and that gap makes a lasting impact on their language development, school readiness and confidence.

Those years teaching shaped me deeply.  I learned that literacy isn’t just about words on a page….it’s about connection, confidence, and opening doors to the future. Each time we hand a child their very own book and buddy, we see their transformation.  Their eyes light up, and their arms clutch their new buddy.  For many, it’s their very first book…the beginning of a lifelong journey into stories, imagination, and learning.
